Equality sometimes means that that those who have been traditionally powerful should share their power. They should support people who have never enjoyed power to become leaders. Those who have never faced discrimination should not talk about discrimination. instead they should empower discriminated people like Dalits, Muslims, Adivasis and Women to speak for themselves.
It is a sad day. Senior Advocate, writer, Public intellectual and activist Shri Bojja Tharakam passed away last night around 11.30 pm. His death is a personal loss to me. He is a role model and inspiration for my generation. He is known and will be remembered for his honesty and commitment. He is a great Ambedkarite and Marxist.
When we adopted the slogan ‘gai ki doom aap rakho, hamein hamari zameen do’ (keep the cow’s tail for yourself, give us our lands), we are asking land for the poor. Within the poor, for Dalits. Within Dalits, for Dalit women. And within Dalit women for Valmiki women. And within Valmiki women if there are any widows, then for them.
